Brakes and ABS Service

Where should you go for brakes and ABS service in Fullerton and Anaheim? Fisk Automotive, of course!
When your brake system is not working properly, the amount of friction required to slow your vehicle down is compromised, which means that you are putting yourself and your precious cargo in danger! This is why regular maintenance of your braking system is so important.
There are various forms of brakes on the vehicles we service here at Fisk Automotive. Our Fullerton and Anaheim clientele drive vehicles with disc brakes, drum brakes, and some are with or without ABS systems, known as Automatic Braking System (ABS). When you’re commuting around the Fullerton and Anaheim areas of North Orange County, your brakes and ABS are not to be taken for granted or ignored...it’s too dangerous!
Most all cars have disc brakes on the front wheels, and many have disc brakes on the rear also. When disc brakes are not used on the rear, drum brakes are used. The fluid being pushed from the master cylinder through the brake lines pushes a piston in the brake caliper. This in turn applies force to the brake pads. Though drum brakes are a simpler form of brakes, it is still very important to regularly check them and take them in for a drum brake service. The drum is part of the drum brake assembly, which also includes a wheel cylinder, a pair of shoes, return springs and hold down springs, a backing plate, some type of self-adjuster mechanism to maintain lining clearances, and a parking brake mechanism.
Automatic Braking System (ABS) diagnosis is tricky for any D.I.Y. mechanic. An ABS warning lamp that is on usually means trouble. If you are not dealing with a real problem the ABS system has self-diagnosed, you may have a “false” code that was set by some combination of circumstances. Either way, a code will need to be pulled in order to figure out what is wrong. Each automobile manufacturer has a separate set of ABS codes, and to make things even trickier, many newer ABS systems have no flash codes, so a scan tool must be used to pull the codes. Leave the challenging ABS diagnosis to Fisk Automotive, because we have all the tools required to pinpoint any troubles with your Automatic Braking System.
